Adopt-A-Backpack

The Family Welcome Center supports families with the enrollment process for the Anoka-Hennepin School District, and they partner with the HOPE Office to support youth and children staying in shelters, hotels, or other temporary situations to ensure access to public education.

Cretex Cares is donating 100 backpacks to families that could use assistance providing supplies to their children that are transferring into or new the school district.

How does it work?
  1. Sign up to Adopt-A-Backpack by completing the form below. 
  2. Cretex Cares will provide you with an empty backpack and shopping list.
  3. Team members will shop for supplies to stuff into their backpacks.
  4. Once you have filled your backpack with the supplies on the list, return your completed backpack to the HR team at rms Company or the Cretex Cares office at the 610 building (2nd floor) by the end of the day on August 12th!

Grilling and Serving Dinner


Stepping Stone provides emergency housing for adults experiencing homelessness in the Anoka area. They provide residents with a bed, 3 meals per day, laundry, showers, and most importantly, they work with each resident one-on-one to identify the cause of their homelessness and help them develop a personalized plan to move toward self-sufficiency.

We are seeking 4-7 volunteers to grill and serve dinner to approximately 20 residents at Stepping Stone's facility (located in Anoka) on August 8, August 22 and August 23. Cretex Cares will purchase all the supplies needed including; main course, sides, dessert, beverages, etc. 

All sessions have been filled!

Food Packing


At Second Harvest's Brooklyn Park facility, volunteers assist with sorting, labeling, weighing and packing various food items to meet immediate needs and help feed our hungry neighbors! The projects vary from day to day and volunteers regularly work with fresh produce, dry goods, bread, and various donations.

Cretex Cares is seeking up to 25 participants to help with packing food.

Everyday Essentials Drive


HOPE 4 Youth helps young people, ages 16 to 24, who are experiencing homelessness in the northern Twin Cities metro area.

Cretex Cares will be facilitating a donation drive for everyday essentials such as clothing, personal hygiene products, food etc. Collection bins will be located at our facilities August 15th-26th.

Sorting & Moving Household Goods


Bridging primarily serving the Twin Cities, provides donated furniture and household goods to families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.

Cretex Cares is seeking up to 25 volunteers for each date/location to help sort through donated goods, inspect items, load/unload trucks and restock shelves.

Bike Donation & Assembly


The mission of A Better Society is to discover the needs of the community, collaborate to find a solution, and activate a sustainable outcome.

Cretex Cares is working to coordinate a bike building and donation event with support from A Better Society and Project Life-Cycle

Two ways to participate:
  1. Donate a used bike! Details on the types of bikes and items accepted can be found here.
  2. Participate in our bike building event! Work with the team from Project Life-Cycle and other Cretex volunteers to assemble new bikes.

QTS: Snack Kit Assembly


Oasis for Youth provides resources and outreach for youth (ages 16-24) who live, work or attend school in Bloomington, Richfield and Edina and are experiencing housing and financial instability. They offer free clothing, hygiene/personal care products, food resources, laundry, showers, job search assistance, case management and much more!

QTS will be assembling snack kits on August 25 to donate to the Oasis for Youth drop-in center.

Cretex Corporate: Cheer Bags


Thumbs Up is based in Elk River, MN and provides support for those who are struggling with mental health, particularly bereaved family and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Thumbs Up Cheer Bag Program is one way the organization brightens someone’s day through a small, random act of kindness. Each Cheer Bag is customized by age and consists of mental health tools and resources. Cretex corporate team members will be assembling these Cheer Bags for Thumbs Up at the company picnic on August 3.

rms Company: School Supply Drive


rms Company will be running a school supply drive August 1-15 to support Adams Elementary School located in in Coon Rapids, MN. 

The rms workplace and volunteer committees will be communicating to their team the details of the most needed items and where to drop your donations.

Spectralytics: School Supply Drive


Spectralytics will be supporting United Way of Central Minnesota with their school supply drive from August 1-15

JunoPacific Soquel: School Supply Drive, "Stuff The Bus"


JunoPacific's Soquel, CA location will be participating in United Way of Santa Cruz County's annual school supply drive from August 1-13. The "Stuff The Bus" event supports the Santa Cruz County Office of Education and helps provide students experiencing hardships and homelessness with the tools they need to succeed.

Cretex Specialty Products: Food & Essentials Drive


Cretex Specialty Products will be supporting the Pewaukee Food Pantry with a food & essentials drive from August 8-12

The Pewaukee Food Pantry serves approximately 200 families each month by providing them with non-perishable items including food, paper goods, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items.

The CSP team will be communicating details about the donation drive to their team members.
